William B. Salt II, MD
An Integrative Gastroenterologist
For Your Gut
Dr. Salt graduated from medical school at The Ohio State University and trained at Vanderbilt University Hospitals where he also served as chief resident in medicine. He is board-certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology. He has encompassed a lifelong career focus on, and expertise with, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
Tens of millions of Americans suffer with a triad of symptoms called enteropathy. Enteropathy is the most common reason for digestive medical consultation:
abdominal pain and/or discomfort,
gas – abdominal bloating, distention, flatulence, and/or noisy sounds, and
bowel dysfunction – constipation, diarrhea, or both.
While most of these symptomatic people are diagnosed with IBS, IT’S A MISTAKE TO DO SO! There are at least six other underlying disorders or diseases that must be considered. Using a football analogy, Dr. Salt calls these disorders the “Pick Six.” All six can usually be diagnosed non-invasively—without colonoscopy or scans—with blood, stool, and breath testing.
You’re on FIRE
Dr. Salt’s new book You’re on FIRE is based upon immune-mediated inflammation in the gut (a protect and defend response to many food constituents and ingested substances). However, the fire often burns out of control …
The fire in the gut cannot be contained. It spreads throughout the body causing symptoms and syndromes (eg, fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, insomnia, fibromyalgia, and interstitial cystitis) and diseases involving heart, thyroid, skin, and brain.
